Huobi Crypto Exchange Rebrands to HTX to Mark 10-Year Anniversary – Here’s the Latest

Digital asset exchange, Huobi has rebranded as HTX as it celebrates its 10th anniversary and offers rewards to the community. The exchange has changed its official social media handles and community pages to HTX. The company's website now carries HTX including its URL, HTX.com. In its official announcement, the company revealed the name change as well as a plan to expand globally into new markets. "Dear users, As the world's leading virtual asset exchange, Huobi is launching a renewed branding strategy on September 13, 2023, where "Huobi" will be renamed to "HTX", our new global brand." A well-crafted acronym According to the release, the H stands for Huobi while the T will represent Tron as the exchange will be connected to the Tron network. X generally indicates an exchange. Alternatively, the combination of HT also represents the platform's native token, while X, which is the Roman character for 10, comes as we commemorate our 10th anniversary. The exchange also released its new slogan "HTX, Just Trade It". HTX has already set in motion a new vision of financial freedom for 8 billion people. The platform reiterated its commitment to enter new markets and partnerships while balancing growth with professional services. "...global expansion, thriving ecosystem, wealth effect and security and compliance," the statement said. The exchange has grown over the past decade to become a global player with a 24 trade volume of over $664,225,880.32. According to recent data from CoinGecko, the exchange has dropped out of the top 10 ranked exchanges by trading volumes, but has still made the list in previous years. The renaming to HTX comes as the exchange announces major partnerships, including a recent deal with blockchain security firm CertiK to improve its existing infrastructure. The rebrand is dividing users and prompting FTX comparisons The decision to rebrand the exchange has already divided digital asset users down the middle. On the one hand, users see the positives that this could bring to the exchange, as it means 10 years of service to users. The other side of the divide joked or reflected on the reference to the collapsed crypto exchange FTX. Twitter user @esatoshiclub wrote "Bad memories keep coming" while @nirvana_aditya quipped "Had a FTX day". Last year, the infamous FTX implosion left the entire market in turmoil as billions in investor funds were wiped out, opening the sector to further regulatory onslaught across multiple jurisdictions. This is the second time in less than a year that the exchange has rebranded with an expansion plan. In November 2022, the exchange changed its name from Huobi Global to Huobi weeks after the FTX collapse as it struggled to navigate the damage caused by FTX in the market.
